I thought it was necessary as a journalist. As it happened, I chose to study print journalism instead of broadcast journalism -and  it didn&#039;t matter if I had a colloquial accent in a newspaper newsroom. Occasionally, I have fun &quot;letting the accent out&quot; when I&#039;m with family and friends from the area.\n\nEventually, life led me to seminary where I learned storytelling from one of the greatest-selling books of all time - The Bible. From those well crafted stories I learned to retell and interpret those stories in the form of sermons. (I also learned to pronounce all those difficult Hebrew names that unnerve a novice.)  As I grew more fascinated with the stories, I began to study the art of &quot;Biblical storytelling&quot; which left out the interpretation and let the &quot;story&quot; speak for itself. As a communicator for a non-profit humanitarian agency, and having lived abroad in Palestine and Europe, I retold the stories of those who move between borders in search of safety and dignity. This lends a global perspective to the art that calls for sensitivity to the complexities of the human condition.
